Empowering Emergency Response Across Kansas
The Kansas State 911 Board is proud to announce the Critical Facility Floorplan Mapping Grant Program, funded by the Kansas Legislature. This program provides standardized indoor GIS mapping of critical facilities to enhance emergency response, planning, and situational awareness across the state—at no cost to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs).
What’s Covered?
This grant funds core services for indoor GIS mapping of:
- K–12 schools (public & private)
- Public post-secondary institutions
- Government buildings
- Healthcare facilities
- Mass gathering sites
All data is prepared to state standards for seamless integration into dispatch and incident command systems.

Your Role as a PSAP
PSAPs are key partners in this initiative. Responsibilities include:
- Apply via the Kansas 911 Board Web Portal
- Coordinate with facilities in your area
- Review and approve final maps
- Sign off on project completion
Schools: How to Participate
K–12 schools and other facilities can get involved by:
- Contacting your local 911 center (PSAP)
- Providing building documents and walkthrough access
- Reviewing draft maps for accuracy
There is no cost to schools for core services.
Optional Add-Ons (Locally Funded)
In addition to the grant-funded core services, facilities and PSAPs may choose to purchase additional options, such as:
- Web-based internal maps
- Mapping of non-priority facilities
- Ongoing updates and maintenance
These optional services must be arranged and funded locally.
